NARAL organizes to protect abortion access across the country, ensuring that women have access to affordable contraception and holding anti-choice lawmakers accountable and demanding lawmakers trust women.

River Consulting worked with NARAL in 2022 to design, hire for, and manage their multi-million dollar paid organizing program, knocking on a quarter of a million doors, gathering tens of thousands of commit to vote cards, signing up almost 7000 new voters, and mobilizing almost a thousand new volunteers on the most consequential issue in the ‘22 election. Alongside this work, River Consulting has helped NARAL redesign their internal structure, facilitated organizational planning and helped build an organizing team that blends in state organizers and a national distributed team that works with volunteers all over the country.

We are helping hire the team, writing job descriptions, consulting on staff placement, training organizing staff and leadership in distributed organizing and management practices and providing ongoing coaching. We’ve helped design and build national and state level work with input and outcomes from staff across the organization. And we wrote phased organizing plans for the ‘20 elections that took into account state and federal priority races, and helped adapt them to organizing through a pandemic. After the election, we helped the team through a consultative process to create their strategic plan and priorities for 2021.
